Hairy came to us by mistake when we bought 2 dozen laying hens, we were out at the barn one evening and I told my husband something was wrong with her legs,he said she has hair on her legs,turned out to be feathers and she was a tiny little hen,red in color,she would go to set so we put other eggs under her and she hatched out 3 batches of chicks for us,she was in the barn in a dog crate with her chick and another hen,they had the run of the barn and would sleep in the crate, a coon got in and killed her and her chick and also the other hen,we have never had coons get in before but it did.we were so sad and we are going to miss her so much.R.I.P. little Hairy we love you and miss you.
